Direct Employment Services (DES) is a specialist not-for-profit organisation funded by the Australian Government to provide employment services to people with a disability and their employers.
DES has been in operation since 1992 and is dedicated to developing successful and long lasting employment opportunities for people with a disability.

DES Services
To access DES you must:
Have a disability
Show a commitment to finding and keeping a job
Live between Gordonvale and Mossman
Be of working age
Have a recent Job Capacity Assessment (JCA) and/or referral from Centrelink (Government eligibility criteria apply)

Access training to develop work skills;
Prepare a resume to highlight your skills and work experience;
Assist you to search for the right job;
Improve your interview skills and techniques; and
Overcome any identified barriers
A DES Employment and Training Consultant (ETC) can:
Assist you to learn your job and facilitate the training provided by the employer;
Suggest and access workplace modifications funding for any adaptations required in the workplace;
Train you to travel to and from home to work;
Help you learn and understand your rights and responsibilities in the workplace;
Assist you to create good relationships with your employers and co-workers; and
Provide you with ongoing assistance
